MY NEMESIS
Lynne Blanchard Carr
Artist
A Plein-Air oil painter living in southern coastal Maine. Working with several area artists early in my career, gave me the support and goals that have kept me striving for the very best work I can create. Attending workshops and the Vermont Studio School, were all very important in my love of painting outside. Starting out with outdoor area sidewalk shows, my own gallery, Art Guilds, and Art Organizations gave me my business experience. The area I live in, has the most beautiful, natural landscapes, seascapes and florals around. Ten miles in either direction can take you from farms and hills to rivers and tidal marshes— to the ever changing sea. My goals are to continue to create pieces for all to enjoy. I have a special interest in Birds (of all kinds), and love the simple expressions that can be found in their movement.
“MY NEMESIS
I have painted these Grand Banks Dories for over thirty-five years now. When I began, they were in Chick’s Cove, later to Gooch’s Cove and now presently at South Church’s River Green in the Kennebunk River basin. I have painted them in all weather and all seasons; I am drawn to them as they twist and dance with the river tides; low and high, fog and snow.
They can drive me crazy, but I always go back to them, another chance, a perfect day, another quintessential Maine scene. As I continue to try and capture them, I am grateful for the opportunity they present, and the memories of all my attempts, in this shady place. I love being on location; even with mosquitos, ants, tourists and all, I am thankful they are still here; so My Nemesis - continues – not unbeatable, a temptation for another day.
